• Welcome to my here today

My name is Melissa Squires.. What I do is to capture frames of you that show your real true inner shining rock star self. It isn’t about being someone else, dressing some certain way and you don't need any secret sauce, you are what makes YOU and wonderful and interesting and special. My images reflect the beauty, joy, and inner soul of my subjects, and the moments they inhabit.. these images are forever.

Photography is how I express myself, how I see, how I celebrate who we are today.

My son is my breath and my husband is my life. I will be quite satisfied when I am 80 if I have loved them well and taken some amazing photographs along the way.

the lion king

I’m terribly behind on blogging, and was going through pictures from December when I realized I hadn’t posted our trip to see the Lion King here! I’ll be doing some catchup on the blog and it’s not all sessions :)

The Lion King came to Detroit and Sean and I knew we had to get tickets to take Ares. It was the most wonderful experience. The show was awesome but it was even more amazing to me that here I was taking my bean to see something like this, it was a big deal when I was growing up to go to McDonalds once in a while, we were so poor and now here we have the program and a simba ( “his hair is like mine” ares said) and an autographed copy of the poster by the cast and a tee shirt – but better then that I got to sit through the first ten minutes of the show watching Ares wide eyed completely enraptured experiencing something so like magic to an almost four year old and I can’t imagine anything as beautiful as that. gah I have the greatest two guys it surprises me anew each day and I am always thankful for it.

We did a family portrait (any chance I get!)

family theater

The Detroit Opera House is so beautiful

and of course it’s so good to get to go Downtown and for a night at the theater, heaven (I forget over and over again how much I love to shoot at night, then I do it and it’s like oh my why don’t I do this more often!)

Liz - Hi, Melissa…

I have been meaning to checkout your site and blog for ages. I even e-mailed a link to myself a while ago. Anyway, here I am and I have to say it’s all wonderful. All of it. Your talent is, in and of itself, inspirational… but I am so touched by your words about your two guys. Your love of your family is beautiful.

I’ll be back once in a while!
