• Welcome to my here today

My name is Melissa Squires.. What I do is to capture frames of you that show your real true inner shining rock star self. It isn’t about being someone else, dressing some certain way and you don't need any secret sauce, you are what makes YOU and wonderful and interesting and special. My images reflect the beauty, joy, and inner soul of my subjects, and the moments they inhabit.. these images are forever.

Photography is how I express myself, how I see, how I celebrate who we are today.

My son is my breath and my husband is my life. I will be quite satisfied when I am 80 if I have loved them well and taken some amazing photographs along the way.

a quiet holiday interlude

I’m sleepy, we just got back the day after Christmas from my sisters house, while I was getting pictures ready for this blog post (they gave me a hard time for not taking a break from work, I took off yesterday I told them and blogging doesn’t count I love to do it) I fell asleep with my laptop on my lap on their sofa.. It’s been a lovely few days, we got to spend time with our extended family and I have to say that I’ve enjoyed this Christmas more then any I can remember. Having a 4 year old (4 and 11/12ths he’d correct) may be part of it, being married to the most amazing man doesn’t hurt, getting to do what I love for a living, that’s a big part too. I don’t think “things” can make a person happy but we opened a bunch of presents and I really enjoyed that as well!

Dirty Santa games, holiday Top Chefs, sprinkling sparkles on the new snow for the reindeer to use as a guide, presents, long distance family phone calls, lights, I have to say that all of that is wonderful, but it’s the quiet moments spent cuddling, the noodling on the sofa as Jack sings in Nightmare Before Christmas, the mess all over the floor and the sofa a haven of warm lovin, those are the things that I like the best.

I’d love to hear your favorite moments, and no matter what you celebrate, if you celebrate at all, I hope that everyone’s last few days of the year are the best of this year so far, and that these good things are just hints at the wonders to come in the New Year.

Betty - Beautiful entry. We are all snuggled up and playing games together and drinking hot cocoa like it’s going out of style. The pouring rain has helped to give it more of a winter feel – I’m grateful for that.December 26, 2008 – 11:35 pm

tonya - These are beautiful photos. The angle on the one Sean took is awesome. The skelly snowglobe on the Vanity Fair book is genius placement. My favoe though is Ares in the frsoty car. The mood is to die for. xo, tDecember 26, 2008 – 11:45 pm
