• Welcome to my here today

My name is Melissa Squires.. What I do is to capture frames of you that show your real true inner shining rock star self. It isn’t about being someone else, dressing some certain way and you don't need any secret sauce, you are what makes YOU and wonderful and interesting and special. My images reflect the beauty, joy, and inner soul of my subjects, and the moments they inhabit.. these images are forever.

Photography is how I express myself, how I see, how I celebrate who we are today.

My son is my breath and my husband is my life. I will be quite satisfied when I am 80 if I have loved them well and taken some amazing photographs along the way.

Booking weddings now for November and December 2010 and into 2011

nyc state of mind

Two months ago I went to NYC to study at Magnum Studios with the amazing Alessandra Sanguinettie. I went at the tail end of my busiest wedding season to date and snuck it in between two weddings, a myriad of photo commissions and a destination wedding / family vacation. There is something about nyc that seems to reset me, oh it sounds like that Alicia Keys song but it is true. It clears my brain, it makes me push myself and reinvent and look at things differently. New York overloads my senses and then makes me dig down to the inner quiet inside myself and come back up for air.

I was there to shoot a photo essay, which I’ll share soon, but here are a few frames I took walking about the city.

Beth - Hi Melissa,
Love these photos! Makes me miss NYC even more! The portraits are incredible! I really like the shot of the Brooklyn Bridge (I’m think), too. Did you eat at Tao? Is that where the Buddha was? Beautiful magical kiss blowing happening here as well. Okay, I’m rambling. Just didn’t know if I’d told you how brilliant you are yet today;)
