My name is Melissa Squires.. What I do is to capture frames of you that show your real true inner shining rock star self. It isn’t about being someone else, dressing some certain way and you don't need any secret sauce, you are what makes YOU and wonderful and interesting and special. My images reflect the beauty, joy, and inner soul of my subjects, and the moments they inhabit.. these images are forever.

Photography is how I express myself, how I see, how I celebrate who we are today.

My son is my breath and my husband is my life. I will be quite satisfied when I am 80 if I have loved them well and taken some amazing photographs along the way.

I don’t know of a prettier city.. and I love New York, and Chicago is great and New Orleans holds a little part of my soul in it’s heart.. but Detroit. Before I photographed for a living I never went into town.. stayed in the places I knew.. it was a strange big and kinda scary place.. now, well it’s my favorite city to photograph in. It has it’s own beautiful heart and the more I look at it the more I can hear it beating. Christina and Matt live right downtown and we spent an afternoon, a chilly one, walking and exploring and enjoying their front yard. Here are a few of the images we made.
