I’ve been really looking and contemplating what I want to do as a next step for meeting and working with clients. I contemplated getting a studio or small space and hooking it up with all the accoutrement of a hipster photography studio and meeting clients there but it seemed not exactly right. I wanted something more organic, something that had a bit of a life on it’s own, something to interact with. I knew if I was patient and kept my eyes and my heart open something would happen, and it did.

This next month I’ll be signing a lease with three other artists, a sculptor, a poet, and a worker of textiles and glass. I’m so excited to be part of a living group. There will be a huge space, a gorgeous, comfortable meeting area, large work table and light light light, all right downtown Ann Arbor. It’s going to take a bit to have it ready for use, the decorating will be some of the most fun! But I couldn’t help share the news here at the beginning.

Not sure we’ll get to keep the Piano :) I’ll keep things updated here as we go :)

sara and dan wedding

The wedding was at the Detroit Yacht Club, Sara and Dan are wonderful, their families blending together beautiful. They had, I do believe the most amazing vows I’ve ever heard and their Ketubah was/is so original and a true piece of art, both in the words and the design. I’m honored to have been able to be there and share just a taste of who they are and what the day was here.

essence magazine and the brides cafe

I was totally thrilled to hear that Rhona had sent her wedding to the amazing wedding blog site the Brides Cafe. Janie at the Brides Cafe shared it with Essence Magazine and they loved the images and Rhona and Justin’s beautiful selves, both sites shared images, stories and the great video trailer by Andy Owen of Owen Video.

I wanted to thank both of these sites for sharing Rhona and Justin’s special day and my photos.

jenay and michael engagement

I grew up in Ann Arbor, and I drove cab in Ann Arbor. I love the city and I know the city pretty well. So when I drove up to Jenay and Michael’s home I couldn’t have been more delighted they live in one of my favorite neighborhoods, they have the sweetest home and it suits them perfectly. Even better, we spent the late afternoon enjoying places I’d been and seen my whole life, but through Jenay and Michaels eyes (and cheesy though it may sound love) it looked completely different and even more wonderful to me than I remember. We went to the market, walked downtown and did a bit of hanging out about their house. Simple things that are made special when they are done with someone you care about. That is, I think, what being married is all about, can’t wait for their big day.

some family time

It’s a whirlwind, three destination shoots out of town this June/July and weddings every weekend I’m in town, not to mention portrait sessions, things are popping and the blog has suffered a touch. We did get to spend a few days together as a family in Mexico shooting Michelle and Brendon’s Mayan Riviera wedding. Here are a few of our family snaps, visiting cenotes, Chichen Itza and hanging on the beach at the resort. A little tropical break before heading back to my busiest year yet. I’m so lucky to be able to do what I do, love it and be able to spend time with my most amazing men well I couldn’t ask for more honestly. If I won the lottery I wouldn’t change a thing (well I might do some more shopping and hire a housekeeping service :) )

Ruby and Josh are artists, teachers, and amazing people. When Ruby and I first met over coffee we couldn’t stop talking, it was instant bond time and I was so so so lucky to be able to celebrate with them on their wedding day.
