a photo a day – month one

On my birthday I promised myself (well to be truthful I tasked myself) I’d take at least one photo a day for pure fun. Especially on the days when I don’t have a photo session or a wedding planned (those are always fun really..) but I wasn’t picking up the camera for just me or the family or for observation or experimentation much lately and that was bumming me out… So I started a photo a day project… I’ve seen them all over for years and honestly I wasn’t so sure it as for me.. but spontaneity was gone from my photographic relationship, it had been missing for a few months, maybe longer.. and I wanted to add some of the spice back.. So I’m through a month, and I’m liking it.. not ever photo is GREAT and not every idea works, and sometimes I take a photo of something lame just to get it over with cause it’s the end of the day and I’m desperate but other times.. other times I get things, I get things I forgot I was missing until I got them and I’m so happy I’m pushing myself to do something daily. Here are a few from my first month.

Sean doesn’t get in front of the camera as often as I’d like or he should, I took this frame Saturday. It’s his birthday today. I just wanted to share it and say that I am so happy that he is in my life, that he is my husband, that he is who he is. I cannot imagine a life without him. Happy birthday love :)

anchorage . alaska

I have been hoarding images. I just got back from Anchorage Alaska I stayed with a couple who brought me into their home and spent three days treating me like family. Alaska took my breath away, everywhere one turns it’s mountains, and birds, and green and lush. I want to go back and kyak, mountain climb, explore, every bit of air smelled crisp and clean, the water, trapped and brought to town from glaciers, well every sip was perfect. I cannot thank them enough for the experience. Today here on the blog it’s just the mountains, some of the forest, a fish :) I’ll share the couple who brought me to such beautiful places in such a generous way soon. They might even top the view.

we love japan – art auction for japan tsunami relief

I was invited to participate in an auction to raise money for Japan after the devastating events of this month and the ongoing nuclear and humanitarian crisis they are suffering. I do personal work as well as my professional work and I chose to donate a piece I shot this winter that means a lot to me.

seven years old

So quickly, seven. This weekend we had cake (and brownies), played checkers, he built three lego sets, we watched Scott Pilgrim, How to Train a Dragon and Extreme Home Makeover. He also let me take some pictures. I can’t imagine anything better. If I had only one person to photograph in the world it would be him (and he would call it “torture” : ) ). He is all my joy and dreams and wishes embodied. I see everything good in the world when look into his eyes. Happy Birthday Ares we love you so.
