  • Welcome to my here today

My name is Melissa Squires.. What I do is to capture frames of you that show your real true inner shining rock star self. It isn’t about being someone else, dressing some certain way and you don't need any secret sauce, you are what makes YOU and wonderful and interesting and special. My images reflect the beauty, joy, and inner soul of my subjects, and the moments they inhabit.. these images are forever.

Photography is how I express myself, how I see, how I celebrate who we are today.

My son is my breath and my husband is my life. I will be quite satisfied when I am 80 if I have loved them well and taken some amazing photographs along the way.

the brides project

When I was asked to participate in the Brides Project http://www.thebridesproject.org/ I was thrilled.. . the organization accepts donations of gently worn and unworn wedding gowns and sells them to soon to be brides.  The proceeds help the cancer support community of greater Ann Arbor.    It’s a really wonderful group of people doing really amazingly important things. Being there and feeling the warmth and comfort the group provides to those going through such a stressful and scary time was a great experience for me and I know it is much needed and appreciated by the people who are helped.

Def take a minute to take a look, the new site is fantastic and the photos are pretty nice too :)

fifty years together

Leaving a session a few weeks ago where I was photographing a couple who were celebrating their first fifty years together I pulled over at the side of the road outside their neighborhood, these two trees were enjoying the late afternoon light and the birds were playing around in the field.. .too perfect… here’s to fifty years and then some. I’m usually there near the beginning, it’s always inspiring to see couples who have been together and to hear their stories about how the years just keep getting better.

bailey and steve . morning after session

Bailey and I are spiritual sisters, I’m sure of it… I love her laugh and how she looks at the world and I love the story of her and Steve,  how they were meant for each other, how they waited for each other, and how now that they are together every moment is meaningful.  I’ve wanted to do a more intimate morning after session since I saw my friend Susan Sabo post a morning after on her blog. I knew at our first meeting I wanted to capture that with Bailey and Steve, the surreal wonder after the wedding, when marriage is real and everything is both comfortable and still new.  These are a few frames from Bailey and Steves morning after.
