My name is Melissa and I believe in living your life to it's fullest, always keeping in mind what is important, that is my key to happiness. A Girl in Love has been a name I've had for a long time, and when I first chose it it was because I wanted to shout out how much my husband Sean meant to me. It has come to mean even more, there is so much beauty and wonder around us, our friends, our children, our passions, and for me, I relish that I am a girl in love with it all.
I have been taking photographs all my life. It wasn't until a few years ago that I opened my eyes and decided to do what I love for a living. Since then I have had work published from Chicago to Tokyo. Family photography to me is a way of being here now, quite literally "celebrating here today" like it says up there and cherishing in light and form those people who mean so much to us. Because what is most important in this life, I believe, are those we care about. Photographs live on and are not just for us, but for our children and their children. That is a legacy I am blessed to be part of.
I take black and white and colour photographs. I take portraits and landscapes and still lifes. I think that, other then taking photographs, reading is the most wonderful thing to do with a few hours snatched alone on a Sunday afternoon. I like to go barefoot in the summer and I like my little dogs at the end of the bed at night. My son is my breath and my husband is my life. I will be quite satisfied when I am 80 if I have loved them well and taken some amazing photographs along the way.
