A session can consist of many things. I use natural light and I bring my own light as well. I shoot in your home, at the park, downtown; I have some special places I love, and I am always interested in taking pictures where you are most comfortable. When you make your session appointment we can discuss where we want to go, sometimes it might be more then one place! We are many and we contain multitudes, I know that and embrace it.
Clothing is usually one of the first things people want to know about, what do I suggest? I don't think that everyone has to match to make an excellent family portrait. I do think that being comfortable makes you look comfortable which means you will look your best when photographed. Babies look best in their skin. For little ones, what do they like to play dress-up in? Colours and textures mixing and matching is fun! Whatever you wear I will make your shine shine through! Remember for seniors there is no limit, we have an afternoon (or morning) to do as many clothing changes as we can fit in!
Sessions last about an hour and a half, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less (the exception being a Senior session, we don't have to go the whole time, but it's 3 hours reserved). You will also recieve a special print idea booklet. After the session I take what we've created into mydigital darkroom. Expect 25 to 35 photographs online for you to choose from within three weeks. We can meet or you can email me your order and from there I make sure you get perfect prints. Specialty items, storyboards, stretched canvas prints, coffee-table and brag books as well as DVDS can be requested and all but coffee table books can be used with your print credit.
A session is above all things fun. When I hear from parents that their little ones are asking when Melissa can come back and moms who have said they felt like it was more a girls day out then a photo-session, that makes my day. It's more then just a job for me, I love what I do.
